Another widely used solution in pig farms is the pig nipple drinker.

The biggest advantage of nipple drinkers is their simple structure. A standard nipple pig waterer mainly consists of three parts:
-Outer housing
-Push rod
-Steel ball

When the pig drinks, it pushes the rod upward with its mouth. Water flows through the gap between the steel ball, push rod, and housing, allowing the pig to drink directly.

After the pig releases the drinker, the steel ball and push rod return to their original position due to water pressure and gravity. The internal sealing structure closes, stopping water flow.

Advantages and Considerations of Pig Nipple Drinkers

Pig nipple drinkers have good resistance to impurities such as small particles and sediment, making them suitable for different farm environments.

However, compared with duckbill drinkers, nipple drinkers usually have:Lower sealing performance, Higher requirements for water pressure control.

If the water pressure is too high, excessive water flow may occur. This can make drinking difficult for pigs, cause water splashing, increase water waste, and create wet conditions inside pig pens.For this reason, pressure regulation is recommended when installing nipple drinker systems.

Installation Height and Angle of Pig Nipple Drinkers

The recommended installation angle for nipple drinkers is generally 45°–75° from the ground.

Typical installation heights include: Piglets: 25–30 cm above the floor, Growing pigs (3–6 months): 50–60 cm above the floor ,Adult pigs: 75–85 cm above the floor.

Correct installation helps pigs drink comfortably while reducing water waste and improving farm hygiene.
